Wellington Public Library will kick off their new Spilling Ink Writer’s Club on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00 pm in the library meeting room. The club is open to all young people in middle school and high school who write short stories, novels, graphic novels & comic books, and more!
The club is designed to give the kids a place and time to share their writing, meet with published authors and writing coaches to hone their writing skills, and learn about opportunities and contests to become published authors themselves.
Having a writer’s club for young people is an idea that has been tossed around for awhile. However, when the adult writer’s club began, library staff discovered a large number of young people who were also writing and looking for an outlet. Using guidelines from the book Spilling Ink: A Young Writer’s Handbook by Anne Mazer and Ellen Potter, the foundation for the club began.
