This week, we have celebrated our Friends of the Library.  This organization is very important to our Library.  Members of the Friends support the library in many different ways.  They have a major book sale each spring and a smaller book sale in the fall.  The money raised from the sales supports the library’s summer reading programs.

The library is proud to provide their summer reading programs at no cost to the community.  Being able to give books as prizes to the kids is awesome!  Have you seen the colorful summer reading t-shirts on kiddos around town?  Again, the Friends make that possible.  In addition to the funding, Friends members volunteer time to help prepare for and supervise library programs.  With several hundred young people attending those programs each summer, that help is invaluable.  The Friends also purchase things on the librarians’ wish list – things that make the library a nicer place to be.

We have friends help with everything from shelving books to book repair and more!  The time that the Friends spend helping the library is so important and so appreciated by the library staff.  If you love the library and have the time to give, their are so many ways you can help.  It’s easy to join and inexpensive, too.  Just fill out the membership form found on this website and return it.  Then get ready to have some fun as a Friend of the Wellington Public Library!

Happy Friends Week!
