Technology is something that few of us can live without. In fact, computer programming is one of the most important skills for the 21st century. Any time you open an app, play a video game, or go to a website, computer programming is there. The library will be offering a Code Club for young people interested in learning more about creating their own games and apps and increasing their technology skills.
Code Club will meet on Thursday afternoons at 5:00 pm in the Children’s Library behind the circulation desk. At the first meeting, we will do an “Hour of Code” and determine which direction people want to go. The library has added Chromebooks and Zentabs to their technology library to provide the necessary tools to coders. Using coding resources such as Scratch, Scratch Jr., Tynker, Code.org, Khan Academy, and others, participants will be able choose whether to learn computer languages or develop games and apps.
The Code Club is part of the larger Makerspace which the library is in the process of developing. The library will offer robotics, electronics, and other maker programs in the future.
