What is this whole eLibrary thing about?

Answer: Now you can borrow digital versions of books and audiobooks from your library! It works just as if it were a physical book. You can check out available items, and place holds on those that are checked out. But you can access our eLibrary 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And you can download the book or audiobook straight to your mobile device or computer.  For more information, check out the Sunflower eLibrary Help!

Is my device compatible with the Sunflower eLibrary/OverDrive?

Answer: Most of the popular tablets and eReader devices are compatible, such as Kindle, iPad, iPod Touch, Sony eReader, and Nook.  OverDrive has a list of compatible and incompatible devices for your reference. And you can always access the items through OverDrive Read on your computer.

How can I download the books straight to my mobile device?

Answer: Simply download the OverDrive app from your app store or marketplace. When adding your library, specify Sunflower eLibrary. When prompted, you can specify Wellington Public Library as your library in the Sunflower eLibrary consortium. Now you should be able to see all the items available to Wellington Public Library patrons!

I keep hearing about this consortium. What does it mean to be part of the Sunflower eLibrary consortium?

Answer: Being a part of the Sunflower eLibrary consortium means less cost to the Wellington Public Library and more items available to you, our patrons. All consortium libraries, across the state of Kansas, join together and continually add new titles; these titles are available to all member library patrons.

Can I burn the audio files to CDs?

Answer: Yes. You can burn eAudiobooks to CDs to play in your CD player. Note: burning an entire book can sometimes take many discs.

How many items can I check out at once?

Answer: 5 items

How long can I checkout an eBook or eAudiobook?

Answer: The default loan period is 7 days; however, you can update your settings to have a book for up to 14 days. You will get an email notice 3 days before your item expires. After expiration, you will not be able to open the file on your computer or device, though you must delete it to remove it from your device.

My eBook/eAudiobook expired, but it is still on my device. Why won’t it go away?

Answer: While the file itself has expired, you must still delete the item from your device. Instructions for deleting the item will vary by device. Library staff are happy to help you troubleshoot your device if you bring it into the library.

Can I renew eBooks/eAudiobooks?

Answer: No. You are unable to renew items checked out through the Sunflower eLibrary. However, most books can be checked out again, which can be immediately after it has expired unless another patron has placed a hold. Most devices will even hold your place, so you will not have to start at the beginning each time you check the book out!

Answer: Your hold will expire 3 days after the item becomes available to you.

Is there a limit to how many items I can place on hold?
